Josephine (Josephine de Malines) pear Pyrus communis (European pear). Turbinate shape, small to medium, greeny yellow skin with a slight russet. Fruit stays green even when ripe. The flesh is fine granted, juicy with excellent flavour. A moderately vigorous tree with a spreading habit. Fruit stores well, even out of the refrigerator. Trees are slow to bear but when they settle down tend to have heavy crops. Susceptible to black spot and pear blast (Pseudomonas syringae), moderately resistant to mites.
Julie Peach A medium-sized white semi-clingstone with a pinkish blush over a cream background. Great flavour but needs to be handled gently because flesh bruises easily. Flesh can go intensely pink as the fruit ripens. Julie can have a tough skin, and tend to ripen from the inside out. You need to try one off the tree to determine ripeness.
June Brite Nectarine Also known as "fiesta red" this rounded, small to medium sized nectarine has a dark red skin over a yellow ground colour with firm and juicy flesh. Good flavour. Clingstone. A colourful and tasty nectarine. Reliable tree that normally has a good crop.
Junecrest Peach Yellow, juicy flesh, red skin, largeish fruit. Good flavour, freestone. Consistent cropper.
Katy Apricot Medium to large egg-shaped apricot, slightly oblong, light orange with a red blush, can get marking on the skin. Freestone, firm, juicy orange flesh with wonderful intense flavour. Apricots need frost protection, particularly at blossom time. Tend to be sweet and getting ripe even when they still look a bit green, will come off easily in the hand when they are getting ripe enough to pick. Apricots are generally susceptible to blossom blight.
Kelsey Plum Slightly resistant to bacterial spot.
Kester Cooker Apple Moderately resistant to black spot
Kidd's Orange Red Apple Excellent medium-sized eating apple. Reddish orange skin with a yellow background, some russeting. Flesh is creamy white, juicy, sweet, and crisp. Very delicious. Tree is moderately vigorous, spreading and productive. Moderately susceptible to black spot (apple scab)
King Billy Plum European, small, prune shape plum, dark purple skin with greeny-yellow flesh. Slight acid flavour, clingstone. Shy bearer, main use is as a polliniser for President. Similar to Angelina but larger and worse flavour.
King David Apple The fruit is small to medium in size, round to oblate in shape. The skin is usually orangey red through to a dark black colour, with a green background that turns yellow. The skin has small lenticels (pores) that look dark on the lighter patches of skin, Thought to be relatively resistant to disease, but moderately susceptible to black spot (apple scab)
King of Pippins Apple Spur bearer
Kingston Black (Black Taunton) apple Very small, dark red cider apple. Valued for its bitter qualities, it's well-known as a cider apple. Spur bearer. Tree is medium sized, spreading. Can be hard to grow as it can be a poor cropper. Quite prone to black spot
Kordia Cherry Medium to large, very dark crimson fruit (almost black). Fleshy, sweet, tasty. Reliable cropper. High resistance to rain cracking. Resistant to canker.
