Fruit is round, medium sized, with an orange/red stripe over a green background, and slight russeting. Flesh is crisp with excellent flavour - this apple won two Royal Horticultural Society awards in the early 1920s.

Diploid, partially self-fertile. Pollinated by other diploids that flower at the same time, e.g. Abas, Irish Peach, McIntosh, Red Braeburn or Vista Bella, or some of the earlier mid-season flowering cultivars, e.g. Fuji, Gala, Pink Lady, Sundowner.
