Common Uses
Mainly eating. Stores well, however fruit will go floury if picked overripe or stored for too long.
Southern hemisphere: from late Feb (warmer climate eg Qld ) to 30th March (cooler climate eg Tas). Most temperate regions, Red Delicious ripens mid-March
Production Notes
Highly productive, very vigorous tree. Most cultivars of Red Delicious are spur-bearing, though 'Lalla' is semi-spur bearing.
Disease Susceptibility
Can be susceptible to mouldy core, susceptible to black spot (apple scab), moderately resistant to powdery mildew, highly resistant to cedar apple rust
