Fruit is small, red and with frequent russetting on the skin. The flavour is rich, and the fruit is quite perfumed.

Origin
Unknown but could date from Roman times, making it one of the oldest apples still in cultivation.
Pollination
Diploid. Very late flowering so pollination important. Probably cross-pollinates with Brown Snout, ioensis (crab), Northern Spy, Ohio Red Rome, Rome Beauty, Royal Jubilee, Stoke Red (cider), Tasman Pride.
