Gala, Royal Gala (red sport). See also Regal Gala	Apple	Lovely early season apple, skin is orange to pink and stripey. Flesh is sweet and crisp, creamy yellow in colour. Stores well in cold storage for only a few months so is best eaten while in season.	Tip bearer. Grows in USDA zones 3-10. Moderately strong tree, good branching. Moderate frost hardiness.	Highly susceptible to black spot (apple scab), moderately resistant to powdery mildew. Highly susceptible to fireblight.

Ginger Gold	Apple	Medium to large, green to gold skin with a slight red blush when very ripe. Creamy, firm flesh with good flavour.	Partial spur and partial tip bearer. Good cropper, vigorous, spreading tree. Keeps reasonably well for early season apple.
Glengarry	Apricot	Small, pale apricot, fair flavour but can be dry.Flesh slightly adheres to stone.	Irregular cropper, needs thinning to prevent biennial bearing.Apricots need frost protection, especially when flowering.	Susceptible to a virus called Glengarry Spot ('pink spot'). Apricots are generally susceptible to blossom blight.
Glou Morceau, also called Beurre d'Hardenpont	Pear	Small to medium-sized, pale green pears, can get a red blush. No russett. Nice light melting flesh. Very juicy.	Reliable cropper.
Goldbar	Apricot	Medium, oblong, strong red blush over deep orange colour. Firm orange flesh, need to ripen properly on tree for flavour to develop. Freestone.	Apricots need frost protection, particularly at blossom time.	Apricots are generally susceptible to blossom blight.
Goldcot	Apricot	Medium size, yellow-green, toughish slightly sour skin, orange flesh that is sweet and softens quickly.	Apricots need frost protection, particularly at blossom time. Consistently sets a heavy crop, needs thinning. Very strong, vigorous tree.	Apricots are generally susceptible to blossom blight. Moderate resistance to bacterial canker.
Golden Delicious	Apple	Pale green becoming bright yellow when ripe, fine russet in stem cavity. Sweet creamy flesh, crisp and very juicy, with tendency to soften in storage or if allowed to get overripe on tree.	Partial spur and partial tip bearer. Moderately vigorous spreading tree, readily produces fruiting spurs. Good cropper, regularly produces heavy crops. Fruit has very long stems which can make picking difficult. Golden Queen	Peach	Heritage variety of yellow-flesh, clingstone peach. Medium sized fruit, orange skin and firm deep orange flesh. Sweet, excellent for bottling.
Goldmine	Nectarine	Heritage white nectarine with very thin skin that gets a red colour over a greenish background that turns cream colour as it ripens. Freestone, skin marks very easily (e.g. by rain). Difficult to ripen well off the tree if picked before it's mature. Bruises easily.	A difficult variety to grow and harvest as very thin skinned and prone to marking and bruising.	Prone to developing brown spots on the skin due to rainfall before ripening, can also shrivel on the tree for no apparent reason.
Goldrich	Apricot	Large, oval, flat fruit, dark orange with juicy deep orange flesh. Sour unless properly ripened on tree (up to a week after they look ripe). Flavour can improve in fridge. When properly ripe, one of the most intensely flavoured apricots on the market. Fre	Apricots need frost protection, particularly at blossom time. Goldrich achieve a uniform orange colour early in the ripening process, so colour alone is not a good indicator of when to pick this variety. Fruit drop, checking for flavour or brix testing will help to determine the right time to pick.	Apricots are generally susceptible to blossom blight.
