Description
Birds of many different species may attack fruit. Depending on the type of fruit you grow and where you live you may have problems with parrots, cockatoos, or smaller birds like wattlebirds.
Basically birds love fruit, are relatively long-lived (compared to insects), and can be incredibly persistent in their attempts to eat your crop. Many home-growers would be happy to share part of their crop, but the birds don’t play that game and will just keep eating until they’ve got the lot. They must be stopped!
This short course compares different netting systems, includes an activity to help you understand your pest problem and choose the right solution, and demonstrates in detail on video how to build your own hoop bird net system.
Netting systems are also suitable for fruit bats, or vertically mobile fruit-eating pests like possums or rats.
