Japanese plum with dark purple skin with a bright yellow background colour. Amber yellow flesh. Tear-drop shaped. Very sweet, firm flesh, fruit sweetens early but then hangs well on the tree for a long time. Flesh remains firm even when ripe.
Common Uses
Low acidity and tendency for tip of stone to break off within the fruit make them a bit fiddly to make jam, but they are freestone so the flesh comes easily off the stone (look out for stray bits of pip). Also good flavour for bottling, but don't hold their shape well, tend to go mushy.
