Medium-sized fruit that tends to be a little dry and slightly coarse-textured, but is sweet with a very pleasant flavour.

An English heritage apple, first recorded in 1824.
Pollination
Pollinated by other late flowering varieties like Brown Snout, Northern Spy, Court Pendu Plat, Ohio Red Rome, Rome Beauty, Royal Jubilee. May be picked up by the late flowers of Democrat, King of the Pippins, Michelin and Peasgood's Nonesuch.

It flowers very late, and is therefore useful in areas that are prone to frost.

Late season, harvest March-April.
Production Notes
Tree is vigorous, mainly spur bearing but partly tip-bearing on young laterals. Can be slow to bear and not a very reliable cropper.
