Medium sized apple, yellowish skin flushed orange with faint stripes and russeting. Tender, crisp, yellow flesh, very sweet and juicy, slightly subacid, aromatic.
Common Uses
Wonderful eating apple, rich sweet spicy, crisp, perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. Store reasonably well if picked before they get too ripe on the tree. Used for eating and cider.

Pollination
Cox's are a triploid type apple, which means they are self-sterile, and can't pollinise other varieties. They are pollinised by Granny Smith, Akane, Braeburn, Chieftain, Pink Lady, Lady William, Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious.

Production Notes
Spur-bearing variety. A characteristic of this variety is that you can hear the seeds rattle when they're ripe, but they need to be very ripe, and it's not the most reliable indicator of fruit ripeness. Fruit keeps for 1-2 months after picking if not overripe when picked.
Disease Susceptibility
Susceptible to blossom damage from frost. Moderately resistant to black spot (apple scab), very susceptible to bacterial canker, moderately susceptible to powdery mildew, fireblight and cedar apple rust.
