Fruit Description
Medium-sized, bright red apple with a yellow background colour. The flesh is white, firm, lovely and sweet and crunchy. Conical shape. A popular Australian apple.
Common Uses
Eating. Tends to keep its colour well after it's cut, so excellent to use in salads.
Origin
A chance seedling (from a Jonathan tree, so one of its parents is Jonathan the other is unknown), grown in Batlow and discovered in the 1920s by Ben Atkinson.
Pollination
Group 2, so likely to be pollinised by Fuji, Gala, Pink Lady, Delicious, Jonathan. Diploid, so can also act as a pollen donor.

Mid-season
Harvest Time
Mid-season, March-April.
Production Notes
Tip bearer. Fruit tends to store well on the tree, and also store quite well after it's picked.
Disease Susceptibility
Natural resistance to black spot (apple scab).
