One of the principles that guides the way we run our farm is to aim to use every piece of fruit we grow for its highest possible purpose. There are two main reasons for making sure that every piece of fruit you grow is collected and used. The first is that hygiene is one of the most important principles of controlling pests and diseases in an organic garden or farm, as it reduces the habitat where pests and diseases can breed. It’s also important to make sure you’re not breeding pests and diseases at your place that may cause a problem for your neighbours. The second reason is that it’s important to get the best possible yield on the investment you put into fruit growing, including your time, energy, enthusiasm, money and hard work!
